Editing and viewing: Following the shoot, I will edit your images and set a date to meet in person to view your beautiful images. I love being with you when you view your images for the first time so if you have any questions, I'm there for you.

When to book?

Choose a time during your pregnancy when you feel comfortable and confident — typically between 32 and 37 weeks is ideal.
I want your belly to show fully and still not have you too tired.

Today, I want to talk to you about how to get ready for your 2023 Business Headshots!

Seeing as how it’s 2023 and the Internet reigns supreme, having high quality, current headshots is vital to your career. And it really doesn’t matter what your job is, either! It used to be that real estate agents and corporate finance leaders were the only ones required to have such images taken, but today everyone benefits from improving their online presence.

Headshots allow you to put your best face forward — literally! Whether you’ve already got a headshot session booked or you’re contemplating having one done, the below guidelines will help you prepare more adequately.

Wear Clothing That’s Flattering, Modest, and Neutral

There’s a time and a place for that leopard print top or crazy tie, but your headshots will usually require a different aesthetic. We recommend neutral, modest articles of clothing that you feel comfortable in and that are flattering to your complexion and features. Clothing should also be clean and freshly pressed.

Bring a Second Outfit

You’ll likely want to have some variety in choice when choosing your favorite headshot images, so bring a second or third outfit to the session.

Keep Accessories to a Minimum

This is a headshot, so we don’t want to detract from your face. Too much jewelry can lead the eye elsewhere, so it’s best to stick to small and modest pieces if you choose to wear any accessories at all.

Have Your Hair/Makeup Done Professionally

If you were looking for an excuse to get a haircut, blowout, or professional makeup, this is it! Not only does handing that responsibility off to someone else reduce your burden on picture day, but it ensures that you look and feel incredible. (Just a note: light retouching is standard in all of our headshot images. Don’t fret about that zit.)

Make Sure Hair is Out of Your Face

This goes along with the last point, but to ensure we get a good shot you’ll want to keep hair out of your face. If you have bangs they should be trimmed, and if you have long hair that tends to get in the way, you may want to clip some of it back or tuck it behind your ears.

Determine the Ideal Backdrop

Many clients prefer to have their images taken at either their business location, home office, or against a neutral background. Together we can help determine the best place to do your headshots but do think about the general aesthetic you’re going for and relay that to your photographer.

Today, I want to talk to you about Kids Modeling & my experience as a Model Photographer.

If you've been thinking your kid could be a model, then give it a try!

Don't know where to start? I get it, let's dive in.

These are my top reasons to go for it & to call it quits.

Are you ready?!

Things to consider:

It is okay for your kid to model as long as he or she is enjoying it and having fun. If she or he doesn't want to, then call it quits.
Kid modeling should not be a source of income to you or your family.
It's important you know, it takes hard work and patience for getting the first gig and then sustaining there. Prioritize your kid's education.
The most important thing is you should not compromise on your child's needs and rights such as their wellbeing, playtime, and relaxation.
You might deal with added stress and workload, which will be in addition to your career workload.
Sometimes you will need to keep yourself free for an entire day to take them for auditions, wait there for your turn and then drive back home.
If your kid gets selected, it means more breaks from your job. You will need to drop everything off and drive to the casting when you are called.

Okay, Jani, I understand all that but what will it take for my child to become a model?

Excellent question!

In my experience with Casting Directors and Casting Agencies.

These are some of the main traits they look for in a kid model.

Agencies look for children with good features such as healthy skin, big and bright eyes, shiny hair and good personalities.

Conventionally good-looking kids are always in high demand. Children are selected depending on the type of cover or advertisement.
A “different” or unusual look might make your child unique. For example, young boys having long hair or an Asian child with green eyes or any other unconventional features could have an edge over others.
A child’s overall personality also matters. An independent, happy and smiling kid is preferred to a kid who always needs their parents around.
Your son/daughter needs to be friendly, outgoing and comfortable interacting with strangers as they have to meet photographers and baby wranglers. They should be comfortable in crowds.
The aspiring model should be good at taking advice and instructions from new people during shoots.

These tend to be more reflective on an emotional | intense level.

Agencies need to see that you can portray more than one look, so along with varying facial expressions, it’s important to have several outfits to help pull off different looks and styles.

3. Branding & Product Session

Perfect for the new Business Start-up that’s ready for images of their environment and products for print or web marketing.

Let your prospective clients see who you are, what your environment looks like and of course, your wonderful products.

Today, I want to talk to you about Maternity Photo Session with me here in Delray Beach, FL.

The pregnancy stage of a woman’s life is one of the fastest growing developmental times.

You are growing a baby – yay you! I know it’s not always comfortable…the cramps, the bloating, the swelling… oh my not feeling so amazing?! It’s ok.

My job as a photographer is to make you look and feel amazing for just about an hour or two.

Then you can throw your legs up and eat chocolate the rest of the day!

A Maternity Photo Session is designed to celebrate and document the precious new life growing within.

This is one of my favorite sessions as it is a combination of glamour, beautiful belly and romance.

A Maternity Photo Session can be an artistic studio shoot or it can take place at a location of your choice.

Some favorites include a local beach or natural field shortly before sunset, one of the many gorgeous parks, gardens or wooded areas in our beautiful Delray Beach city.

These photos will help your children to know how proud you were to be their mother and what a privilege carrying them was.

Here are the answers to some of the questions you may have. Specially, if this is the first time you are having a Beautiful Maternity Photo Session with me.

WHEN SHOULD I SCHEDULE MY MATERNITY PHOTO SESSION?

32-37 weeks is perfect for most moms to be.

This is a time frame where your beautiful belly is of ample size yet you’re not as “puffy” and uncomfortable as you may be in your last 2 to 4 weeks. Though I have shot maternity sessions up close to delivery with beautiful results, feedback from expecting moms has encouraged me to advise clients towards the earlier side where mamas-to-be are feeling their best and are more comfortable than they may be later.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

The clothes that you wear during your session will play a vital role in how you feel during the shoot and about your photographs. We really want to show off your beautiful form, so choose a few outfits that accentuate your beautiful body!

I love form fitting tops with chunky sweaters or long flowing dresses. You can choose your favorite maternity outfit but solid colors work best. As far as specific colors, it is completely up to you. Personally, I LOVE pastels and whites to create more timeless images. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable, confident and beautiful!

I have a full client closet you can choose from at no extra cost. Very early in my career I realized it makes no sense you buy a Maternity Gown you won't use more than once.

A LITTLE BIT OF ADVISE FROM YOUR PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER...

I would suggest pampering yourself or let us do the pampering for you before your session.

Get your hair and nails done or take a relaxing bubble bath.

Put aside a few hours for yourself to just relax and feel fabulous.

The best photographs are created when expectant mothers are relaxed, feel confident and are able to just be themselves during the session.

My baby is already born, am I too late to schedule a Newborn Session?

If I have an opening in my calendar I am happy to accommodate. Most often, however, I am booked out months in advance. Also, I really love to take newborn pictures 5-10 days after birth. After that, some of the most adorable poses aren’t as easy to achieve.

What is the turn around on my images?

You will receive your images 2 weeks from your session date and be able to share them in an online gallery set up just for you!

Where do the studio sessions take place?

Your session will take place in my private and cozy baby studio in Delray Beach or at your home. If you are coming to my studio, just bring yourself and your little bundle of joy and rest assured that the studio is fully stocked with all the necessary props, toiletries, and snacks to keep you comfortable throughout your session.

Who supplies all the cute hats/headbands for the baby?

I normally do but given the situation with covid19, you can bring your own. I want you to feel comfortable and safe. In my studio you will find a large supply of hats, headbands, and wraps that we can play with. All have been dry cleaned after each session.

What should we wear for the family pictures?

I want you to feel comfortable so I suggest wearing clothes that you can move freely in.

What happens after my session?

After your session we’ll discuss when you when you can expect your photographs to be available for viewing. Together we will we will schedule a time 2-3 weeks after your session date for your reveal and viewing session.

Today, I want to share with you my main Newborn Photo Session Checklist for my clients.

These are MUSTs for my clients to follow because it will ensure your Newborn Photo Session will be a successful one.

I've been a Professional Photographer for 14 years and I have enough experience with babies to know these will smooth the session greatly.

Click here for my most common FAQs for New Parents

Have any hats, bows, headbands, blankets, props, family heirlooms or other items you may want in the shots ready.
Make sure the room or rooms are warm. ( If we do the shoot at your location).
Your baby will usually have their clothes off for most of the session so it needs to be extra warm.
Have room or rooms where the baby will be photographed tidy and clutter free please.
You should wear lightweight breathable clothing since it will be very warm where we are shooting.
If you would like to be in some of the photographs we will shoot those first before you get disheveled or sweaty due to the warmth in the room for your little one.
Your hands may be shown in some photos. Please have nails trimmed and clean.
Turn off phones or any other distractions during the photo shoot.
Try to have at least one other person there with you during the shoot to help.
Sessions can often get long and tiring for all involved. Have water on hand…newborn sessions make you thirsty!!
Before feeding baby, remove all clothes and socks.
Unfasten diaper so it can be easily removed and wrap baby in blanket. This will help eliminate any creases or red marks on the baby’s body.
Feed baby approximately a half-hour before session is scheduled to begin.
It is imperative that baby is well fed and burped. : )

I am! Here are some tips for your Engagement Photo Session... In case, you said YES!!! last night!

Not sure what to wear to your engagement session?

We’re here to help!

You should bring two to three outfits to your session so we can get a variety of different looks for you. We suggest the following:

Bring a ‘Dressy’ Outfit

It’s not every day you get to get all dressed up with your sweetheart and take photos together. Use this session as an excuse to really go all out and get fancied up! I’m not saying you have to wear a gown and tux (unless you want to), but maybe a dress or skirt for you, and a suit or nice slacks and a button up shirt for your fiancé. This outfit will be great for save the date cards, or the announcement in your local newspaper.

Go Casual

We also suggest you bring a more casual outfit. This outfit is ideal for your more fun, relaxed photos. Tailored jeans and a nice shirt are always a great choice, especially if we are going to be walking around in nature a lot. Make sure to bring shoes specifically for this outfit, too.

Coordination is Key

The most important thing to remember is to coordinate. You don’t want to be matchy-matchy, but you want to coordinate. Choose similar colors and styles that photograph well together. For example, you don’t want to wear jeans if your fiancé is wearing a suit and tie in the same photo. Also remember to dress for the location. For example, if you are doing a natural, rustic or vintage session, you’ll want to stay away from bright colors and opt for neutrals instead.

Things to Avoid

- Logos, unless we’re doing a sports session and you’re wearing jerseys, etc.

- Patterns – Try to stick with solid colors or minimal patterns. Plaid shirts are fine as long as your fiancé isn’t wearing stripes or polka dots. It’s a good rule of thumb to only have one partner wearing a pattern at a time.

- Fluorescent colors – These don’t photograph well and also can cast bright color tones on your skin.

I have every backdrop color in the rainbow in my studio and if I don't, I can do it in post production so I've got you!

Within 30 minutes, we could do only one look but if you bring a jacket, we could always mix it up a bit.

I cannot tell you how excited I am to tell you about this wonderful family I got to photograph; The Bieber Family!

Cathie & Brad Bieber have been long time clients of mine now. I've had the honor to photograph them in different occasions.

When Cathie asked me to book her whole family photo session, I knew I would absolutely love this session.

How could I not?

If the rest of the family was anything like her, and they are, I would have a blast and have images I would love, forever.

I was spot on! I absolutely love these images.

Sometimes I think the hardest part of my job is actually narrowing it down to present no more than 40 images.

With The Bieber Family, I had way more than 40 favorites images!

After scheduling her session two months ahead, the photo session day came & I was so excited!

We met at my favorite location in Delray Beach. Do you know where it is?

Although he was the only one missing at this family photo session, they were celebrating Cathie's husband's birthday.

He passed away 3 years ago. I am in complete awe of Cathie's strength. I absolutely admire her & her heart!

It was a beautiful celebration.

It was beautiful to photograph this wonderful family together.

The love these boys have for their mom is a love every mother hopes to have. Cathie is surrounded by love & kindness.

Including her booming baking business, this wonderful woman is absolutely successful in all she does and I'm absolutely honor to be her photographer.

The whole family was all love & I'm eternally grateful I was able to capture it all. There's not one photo I dislike!

Carina reached out to me a few months ago to photograph her beautiful family. They wanted to do a Beach Sunset Session and I knew just the place. You all know my favorite spot in Delray Beach!

We met at exactly 4:30pm and I had the BEST of news for them. We had a close SAND BANK!

Today, I want to introduce you to the Sweetest Family in all Delray Beach.

This is The Rivera Family.

Oli reached out to me about a quick Family Pet Session for the Holidays.

As you know, I am completely booked till February '23 but after learning they are new to our beautiful city, I couldn't say no.

I had to squeeze them in!

I know how important having beautiful images for the Holiday Cards is, specially if you just moved from the Big Apple.

I knew from the moment I spoke to Mercy, I would LOVE meeting and photographing them.

Once the girls walked in, I knew these images would be one of my most favorites!

How did I know? I just have that strong spidey-sense thing.

I am so happy I trusted my intuition!

How did the session go? It went as amazing as I thought it would.

I had a complete mess by the end of their session. At some point, I was enticing Starling with a ball of my seamless paper!

If you know me, then you know I absolutely love having a complete mess at the studio after a session.

To me, a mess equals fun and I love fun sessions!

I know it sounds crazy but then again, I am a mom of 4 so, I'm sure you get the picture ... pun intended lol

All in all, I loved meeting them.

I loved having so much fun with them and these images will be part of their legacy.

That makes my heart so happy!

I am so glad you are here. I can hardly wait for you to see these gorgeous images! I love them all!

I know I say this often, but I truly feel like the luckiest photographer in all the world.

You see, I truly love what I do. These moments I capture... They are magnificent! They are unique. They are little frozen moments of your life that mean so much and slip through your fingers so quickly... thankfully, I get to capture them for you.

This family is a treasure in time.

I love their love for each other.

I love you can feel their love in every photograph.

Just yesterday as I met with Jess for her to view these images. She stood there and cried seeing her little boy become this big boy in photographs.

As parents, we often don't notice till there's an image that showcases their growth.

That moment alone made my whole 14+ years as a photography, worthy of all the sleepless nights I go through editing and planning each session.

For me, photography is more than a just a hobby or a passion... it's such an important job!

It's important because it marks your legacy. It's important because it helps you remember those moments worth remembering!

Maybe you'll understand my point... Have you ever just sat on your bed going page by page of your kid's photo albums?

I do this every year... it's the happiest and saddest moment for me... You get to see all that growth and all that love... It's bittersweet, isn't it?

Delray Beach Senior Photo Session with Nicholas Dyer

Today, I want to talk to you about a superstar & supermodel in the rising!

I know I don't advertise it enough but I do Senior Portraits as well. Yup, I do and they are FUN!

Nicholas is an amazing son, basketball player, brother & friend to all.

I met him during his Family Photo Session last year & I am incredibly grateful to know his awesome parents.

This year we talked about doing the Cap & Gown Photos even though his school already had a contract with a National Brand Studio.

They knew the images would be more reflective of who he is.

Don't get me wrong, there's nothing bad about taking them with a mass producing studio if that's within your budget. Capturing a photo during this stage in their lives is better than not doing any at all.

I just believe in my Boutique approach to photography serves my clients best.

Giving my client more detailed attention gives them better photos & that's my main goal. I believe in Quality, over Quantity.

You see, one day your now Senior Kid will look back at these images while seeking a relevant time in his/her life. It's important they see themselves and not just some fake smile image of themselves. Does that make sense?

And s for Nicholas' Senior Photo Session we mixed a few things :

Official Senior Shots - Always a must

Modeling Shots - He truly has a knack for it

Basketball Action Shots - Always a must for what he loves in the now!

We can do up to 3 different locations & change around 4 times without it affecting the flow of the session.

Most importantly, we had lots of fun capturing this big change in his life.

I know how emotional it can be to all involved, specially mom/dad and so I love to always include one or two shots.

I am myself, mom to a teen and I know how precious every minute is. It is absolutely crazy how fast they grow!

Fun fact about this Senior Portraits Session?

We had to shoot the entire cap & gown part of the session with a white gown because my dry cleaners didn't have the black one ready on time.

Today, I want to talk to you about Family Mini Photo Sessions.

If you are local to Delray Beach/Boca Raton Area, then you know how GORGEOUS our skies get around this time.

Delray Beach Family Photo Sessions

If you are new, then you are in for a beautiful show. Just make sure you go outside at sunset time (6 ish).

Since we are so in love with our Autumn skies, I wanted to propose a Mini Mini Session for you to get just the refreshed images you need without committing to the extra time or financial investment.

Delray Beach Family Photo Sessions

This year's Family Mini's are to take place on November 19th & November 20th at Atlantic Dunes Beach Park.

Each session will be 30 minutes in length.

These sessions are perfect for families or children portraits!

Depending on the package you select, you will receive 5, 10 or 15 beautifully hand-edited digital files with a print release.

Each client will select their favorite images with Jani on a scheduled date.

Session Theme: Beach Glamour. Your only job will be to select the right colors so you can outdo the beautiful sunsets. We'll have blankets and other props to help you have a truly fun time in a short time.

Please note that the entire fee is collected upon booking. Any collection upgrades can be made upon reviewing the images.

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

I hope you are all doing great. 🫶

I wanted to reach out and have a little talk about something that makes us all a bit uncomfortable...

Last week, we got some confusing news about what happens within our justice system and I felt helpless; sad... But I put all that sadness into my work, as that's my way of dealing with things like these... I breathe through it till a positive idea comes about, then act with massive intention.

So, today after I dropped my babies at school, I begged god/universe to make sure they are safe, like I do every morning now...I had that moment... that idea; that positive thought came through...

Yes, I've taken on the PTA at each school and continue to act with my Sandy Hook Promise and I donate every year but I still feel it isn't enough... Do you have that feeling, too?

I believe that greatness is in unity.

I want us all to help donate to the Sandy Hook & Parkland Promise.

I know things might be tight even when you want to help so I will do it for both of us. Does that sound good?

Starting today, I will donate 40% of each Senior Photo Session fee to these causes (20% to each).

I will add your name to it and send you the receipt.

A Pup at Sunset - Pet Photo Session with JS Portrait Studio Delray Beach

I am so happy you've stopped by.

Today, I want to tell you about this amazing photo session I recently had.

This pup is named Baby Gunther and his dad is Gregory.

They are both excellent models, although not professionally yet.

I met them back in April when we moved to our new home.

Baby Gunther is the handsomest and most obedient dog I've ever met. So much as my children and I thought, they were military.

We later found out, it was not the case. Just really good training & heart.

Baby Gunther is very attentive and so kind looking. Although most people in our neighborhood stay away from him, once you get close enough, you see a teddy bear.

I loved photographing him. I can hardly wait for his next modeling shoot.

These two had such a beautiful and deep connection.

I love my job mostly because I get to meet all the wonderful people in this world around us.

Today I want to tell you about this wonderful family of 3 I absolutely loved meeting and photographing.

Juani contacted me as a client's referral. I am always so grateful for referrals. It truly speaks volumes to me.

My schedule was swamped but I was able to squeeze her in. I had 3 sessions that day but it was most definitely worth it.

Juani just wanted to get some beautiful shots with her two boys - a teen & a puppy.

I was happy to oblige.

Alex was a little challenging to photograph just like every teen is but he had fun and the end result ended beautifully!

Bruno is a superstar pup!

Today, I want to talk about children and how I have managed to get great candid shot of your kiddos for over 14 years!

If your child doesn’t like sitting still or posing for the camera, have no worries.

We can still get some great photos of the little one.

When children don’t want to cooperate, we as photographers jump to plan B.

It is our job to create situations where you child can relax and candidly bring out their personalities.

About 97% of the time, I prefer candid shots instead of the posed ones anyways.
